Promise of Spring

Spring is in the air.

This is the beach (on the opposite side) that I often take my dog for a swim.

Window of an old cottage

I went by an old cottage today when I was hiking with my dog. 

Its windows caught my attention - I thought the window with beautiful drapes and those surrounding grey planks was very cute and top of everything was the lace of snow and ice above the window.

Like a flash of history.

Lenkkeilin tänään koirani kanssa ja tulin kulkeneeksi vanhan mökin ohi. Sen ikkunat kiinnittivät huomioni. Minusta harmaiden hirsien ympäröimä ikkuna kauniine verhoineen oli kovin viehättävä. Puhumattakaan jään ja lumen muodostamasta pitsistä yläpuolela.

Ihana. Kuin pala historiaa.

Blue

The theme for today is Blue.

And specially the Tenerife Blue.

Actually I don't know if there's something called 'the Tenerife Blue' - I guess there isn't for real..

But these pics are taken on Tenerife and the combining factor being Blue, 

so that makes it the Tenerife Blue, or what?

Tosiasiassa ei taida olla olemassa värisävyä Teneriffan Sininen,

mutta nämä kuvat on otettu Teneriffalla ja yhdistävä tekijä on sini,

joten väriä voisi mielikuvituksekkaasti kutsua Teneriffan Siniseksi, eikös?

The Atlantic Ocean

I love the Sea.

Every time I visit a new place I have to visit the harbour and the beach if that's possible.

Maybe that is because I've lived all my life near the sea (the Baltic Sea) and I could not even think about living somewhere that would be far away from sea and lakes.

So of course when I visited the Canary Islands I took quite many pictures of the amazing Atlantic Ocean. 

I love to listen to the sound of its waves, and just look at the the awesome endless horizon.

Rakastan merta.

Kun vierailen uusissa paikoissa, minun on aina piipahdettava rannalla ja satamissa, jos se vain on mahdollista. Ehkä se johtuu siitä että olen koko elämäni asunut meren (Itämeren) rannoilla, enkä voisi kuvitellakaan asuvani muualla, ns kuivalla maalla.

Joten vieraillessani Kanarialla, Atlantin näkeminen ja sen äänien kuuleminen on aivan ihanaa. 

Ja sen upea horisontti, jollaista saaristossa asuvana en edes näe (vaikka en silti vaihtaisi saaristoa avoimeen horisonttiin.. :) ).

Otin aika lailla kuvia Atlantista, tässä joitakin illan suussa napattuja.

White - Valkoinen

More white walls from Tenerife.

I liked the way lights and shadows play on surfaces of these walls.

Plain or simple scenerys or surfaces like these often fascinate me, reflections, the lights and small details are so 'visible' on them. 

But somehow I feel a bit weird returning home from Tenerife and having taken about 500 pictures and only five pictures include a palm tree - instead I've taken pictures like these, of plain walls! :D

Tykkäsin siitä miten valot ja varjot leikkivät näillä pinnoilla.

Yksinkertaiset pinnat ja näkymät ovat minusta usein kiinnostavia, sillä niissä heijastukset  ja pienet yksityiskohdat nousevat hyvin esille.

Mutta tunnen itseni kyllä vähän hassuksi, sillä otettuani Teneriffalla noin 500 kuvaa - vain kourallisessa niistä on palmupuu, sen sijaan olen kuvannut esimerkiksi tällaisia simppeleitä pintoja :)

a Wall - a Seinä

Greetings from Tenerife.

This wall catched my eye when walking down the street in Puerto de la Cruz.

And a word of warning: There might be some more pics from Tenerife taken on my vacation uploaded on blog - as soon I've had time to go through the memory cards.

And yes - I really was enjoying my vacation, it was wonderful and relaxing. But of course the best thing is always to return home :)

Terkkuja Teneriffalta.

Tämä seinä kiinnitti huomioni Puerto de la Cruzin katuja kulkiessani.

Ja varoituksen sana: jokunen muukin teneriffan matkalla napattu kuva saattaa vielä ilmestyä seinälle, kunhan ehdin käymään muistikortit läpi.

Ja kyllä, loma oli ihana ja rentouttava, mutta parastahan on aina kotiinpaluu :)

Lion

I went to a hair dresser. This lion was guarding the door.

I thought it did not look so very dangerous so I was brave enough to go past it and enter the hair saloon.

Kävin kampaajalla. Tämä leijona vartioi ovea.

Se ei kuitenkaan loppujen lopuksi näyttänyt kovin pelottavalta, joten keräsin rohkeuteni ja astuin sen ohi salongin puolelle.
